Creating a sustainable, community-focused agricultural ecosystem in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico.
Learn MoreThe San Lorenzo Agriculture District is a transformative initiative aimed at revitalizing underutilized spaces into productive agricultural zones. This project integrates controlled environment agriculture, traditional farming, research and development, and community engagement to create a sustainable food ecosystem.
The project has commenced with a multi year master plan design project that will include all the creative designs, renderings and full community engagement with all visual assets that will describe the project in great detail. This will involve all stakeholders on all levels in design, creative and development of a comprehensive master plan that will inform all of the implementation and marketing of San Lorenzo as a regional leader in agriculture.
Our vision is to create a self-sustaining agricultural district that promotes food security, economic growth, and community well-being. By reimagining spaces, we aim to establish San Lorenzo as a model for sustainable agricultural development in Puerto Rico.
The San Lorenzo Agriculture District encompasses three distinct sites, each offering unique opportunities for agricultural development and community engagement. Together, these sites create a comprehensive ecosystem that supports various aspects of agriculture.
The former municipal coliseum site spans approximately 11 acres and will be transformed into a hub for controlled environment agriculture, greenhouse production, and community recreation facilities.
This former school site will be repurposed for research and development, workforce training, and temporary farm worker housing, supporting the agricultural ecosystem with education and innovation.
Spanning approximately 377 acres, this expansive hillside area will be developed for regenerative agriculture, agroforestry, and agritourism, along with residential and community facilities.
The San Lorenzo Agriculture District incorporates diverse agricultural approaches, from high-tech controlled environment agriculture to traditional soil-based farming methods. This variety ensures resilience, productivity, and sustainability across the district.
Each site within the San Lorenzo Agriculture District has been carefully planned to support specific development programs that align with the overall vision. These programs include agricultural production, community facilities, housing, and educational spaces. The project will commence with a multi year master plan design and stakeholder engagement that will develop community focused marketing, creative and design projects that will be implemented and developed within the community for the project that will be a pillar of the San Lorenzo community.
The San Lorenzo Agriculture District is designed to deliver numerous benefits to the local community, from economic opportunities to environmental improvements and enhanced food security.
